Last week saw the first international trip for the Macho Fins Stand - to none other than the UK's biggest surf & music festival, Boardmasters.
Although now better known as one of the UK's leading music festivals on the cliffs above Watergate Bay in Cornwall , Boardmasters roots lie in the surf scene at Fistral in Newquay, one of Europe's premier surfing destinations. A permanent stop on the European leg of the WSL Longboard Tour, the atmosphere down at Fistral was relaxed and fun - just what we like here at Macho Fins, and our stand up on the Headland went down a storm. Luckily, there was no actual storm, and although a strong northerly wind proved a challenge for the perfect surf (and the stands!), the weekend saw a change in conditions for the better and the semis and finals saw some great action in the water with reigning champions Eduardo Delpero and Alice Lemoigne not only claiming back-to-back Boardmasters wins, but also their titles as European Champions.
We want to extend our thanks to everyone who passed by and checked out our fins and chatted to us, we couldn't have hoped for a better reception in the UK! We'd like to give a special shout out to Luke & Ben at Toy Factory Surfboards for all their help and enthusiasm (enjoy the fin Luke!) and Pete & Cookie (and his beauty of a VW) at the Museum of British Surfing for their old school tales.
And finally, big congratulations to the winner of our Win This Fin competition, Cam McKinley-Rodgers, who is now the proud owner of a Special Series Tropica 10" Root fin. Congrats Cam!
